Irvine Welsh - whose sequel to Trainspotting, Porno, comes out next month - is already recruiting for the book's movie version. "I would love the original cast to be involved," he told me at the WH Smith book awards. "Dino de Laurentiis - the producer who made Hannibal - once told me`- 1- 1- 1- writers and directors: I've got Anthony Hopkins.' Me? I'm trying to get Ewan McGregor to sign up. I already owe him for selling so many of my books."
Of the novel itself, Welsh adds: "Porno is set 10 years on, and the original characters have turned their hands to making hardcore pornography. I did some research in Amsterdam."
